Inspiration of Scripture

Verbal Plenary Inspiration (II Tim. 3:15-17; II Peter 1:19-21)

The 66 books of the Bible are the result of God prompting and guiding men whom He chose to write what they did. Every word, word form, and word placement found in the Bible’s original manuscripts was divinely and intentionally written.

‘Inspiration’ refers to the words written as being “God-breathed.” God supernaturally guided His authors to write exactly what He wanted to communicate. Everything in Scripture is there because that’s what God desired to say.

‘Verbal’ means EVERY word of Scripture is God-breathed – not just the ideas behind the words.

‘Plenary’ means all parts of the Bible are equally of God. For example: What Paul writes in I Corinthians is just as much from God as quotations of Jesus in the book of Matthew.

You can trust ALL of it! 🙂
